Who We Are and Controller Information

Skylta is an educational app for Swedish road signs, driving theory practice, flashcards, puzzles, exam-style questions, and AI-assisted traffic sign explanations.

For privacy-related requests, the developer/operator of Skylta can be contacted at:

Email: contact@parkoga.se

If you contact us from another email address, we may process the information you choose to send in order to respond to your request.

Scope of This Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Skylta processes information when you use the app, including learning features, AI features, advertising, subscriptions, diagnostics, and support communication.

Some third-party services, such as Apple, Google AdMob, RevenueCat, Firebase, and AI service providers, may process data according to their own privacy policies and legal obligations.

Data We Collect

Data you provide

  • AI messages: text questions you send to the AI feature.
  • AI images: images you choose to upload for traffic sign or road-related analysis.
  • Support emails: if you contact us by email, we receive the information you choose to send.

Data collected automatically

  • Advertising data: through Google AdMob, such as device identifiers, ad impressions, ad interactions, and approximate location derived from IP address.
  • Diagnostics: crash logs and performance data through Apple and/or Firebase Crashlytics, if enabled.
  • Subscription data: purchase status, subscription entitlement, product identifier, renewal status, transaction-related information, and anonymous app user ID through RevenueCat and Apple.
  • Technical data: limited technical information such as app version, device type, operating system version, language setting, and server request metadata where needed for security, debugging, and service operation.

Not collected directly inside the app: your name, phone number, precise GPS location, contacts, or full payment card details.

AI Chat and AI Image Analysis

When you use AI chat or choose to analyse a traffic sign or road-related image using AI, your question and the selected image may be sent to our backend server and to our AI service provider for processing.

Before processing, images may be resized, compressed, converted, or sanitized to reduce unnecessary data exposure, improve performance, and control cost.

The AI feature is intended only for road signs, driving theory, parking rules, road safety, traffic fines, and traffic-related learning.

Do not upload images containing people, faces, license plates, private documents, home addresses, payment information, health information, children, or other sensitive personal data.

AI answers are educational and may be incomplete or inaccurate. For legal decisions, parking fines, official driving rules, or real-world traffic decisions, always verify with official authorities, the relevant municipality, or a qualified professional.

Legal Bases for Processing

Where GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases depending on the feature and context:

  • Performance of a contract: to provide app features, AI responses, Premium access, and subscription-related functionality.
  • Legitimate interests: to maintain security, prevent abuse, debug errors, improve app stability, and understand basic app performance.
  • Consent: where required, for personalized advertising, tracking permissions, and similar device-level permissions.
  • Legal obligation: where we must retain or disclose certain information to comply with applicable laws, accounting rules, App Store requirements, fraud prevention, or valid legal requests.

How We Use Data

  • Provide app features such as language settings, flashcards, puzzles, progress, and AI answers.
  • Process AI chat and AI image analysis requests.
  • Show, limit, personalize where permitted, and measure ads.
  • Manage Premium access and remove ads for subscribed users.
  • Fix bugs, prevent abuse, improve app stability, and maintain service security.
  • Respond to support requests.
  • Comply with applicable legal, platform, tax, security, and App Store obligations.

Advertising and Tracking

Skylta may show ads through Google AdMob. AdMob and its partners may process device identifiers, advertising data, and approximate location to deliver ads, measure ad performance, prevent fraud, and personalize ads where permitted.

On iOS, we may ask for permission to use your device identifier for advertising purposes. If you tap “Allow”, ads may be personalized. If you choose “Ask App Not to Track”, you may still see ads, but they should be less personalized.

You can change your tracking choice anytime in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking on iOS.

NSUserTrackingUsageDescription: “We use your device identifier to show relevant ads and keep Skylta free. You can change this anytime in Settings.”

Subscriptions and Payments

Skylta Premium may be offered as an auto-renewable subscription. Purchases and billing are handled by Apple. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.

We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status and Premium access. RevenueCat may process an anonymous app user ID, product identifier, purchase status, renewal status, transaction-related data, and entitlement information.

You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID subscription settings. Subscription cancellation, refunds, and billing management are handled by Apple according to Apple’s rules and your Apple ID settings.

Terms of Use (EULA)

Skylta uses Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement (EULA):

Apple Standard EULA

Sharing and Service Providers

We do not sell your personal data. Limited data may be shared with service providers only as needed to deliver, secure, support, and maintain the app:

  • Apple: App Store purchases, subscriptions, crash reporting, platform services, and subscription management.
  • RevenueCat: subscription status, entitlement management, and purchase validation.
  • Google AdMob: advertising, ad measurement, fraud prevention, and ad personalization where permitted.
  • Firebase Crashlytics: crash diagnostics and app stability, if enabled.
  • AI service providers: processing AI chat and AI image analysis requests.
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers: secure backend hosting, request handling, monitoring, and service operation.

International Transfers

Some service providers may process data in countries outside your country of residence, including outside the EU/EEA. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as contractual protections, platform provider commitments, and other legally recognized transfer mechanisms.

Because providers and infrastructure may change over time, the exact processing locations may vary depending on the service provider and technical setup.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data. AI images may be resized and sanitized before processing to reduce unnecessary data exposure. Access to backend systems should be limited to what is necessary for operation, security, and maintenance.

However, no internet-based service can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You should avoid uploading sensitive personal data or images that are not needed for traffic-related learning.

Retention

  • Local app settings and learning progress may remain on your device until you delete the app or clear its data.
  • AI requests may be processed temporarily to provide the requested answer, prevent abuse, debug errors, and maintain service security.
  • Advertising, diagnostics, and subscription data are retained by the relevant service providers according to their own policies and legal obligations.
  • Support emails may be kept for up to 24 months, unless a longer period is required for legal, accounting, dispute, or security reasons.
  • Aggregated or anonymized information that no longer identifies a user may be kept for analytics, security, and product improvement.

Children

Skylta is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will take appropriate action.

Your Rights

If you are in the EU/EEA, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data. You may also have the right to data portability where applicable.

Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent at any time. This does not affect processing that took place before consent was withdrawn.

To exercise your rights, contact us at contact@parkoga.se. You may also complain to IMY, the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection.

Because Skylta does not require an account, we may need limited information from you to verify and process your request. If we cannot identify data related to you, we may be unable to fulfill certain requests.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app, AI features, advertising setup, subscriptions, service providers, legal requirements, or security practices.

When we update this policy, we will change the “Last updated” date above. For material changes, we may provide additional notice in the app, on our website, or through App Store metadata where appropriate.

If we plan to process personal data for a new purpose that is materially different from the purposes described here, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide notice where required by law before or when the new processing begins.

Your continued use of Skylta after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective means that the updated policy applies to future use of the app, without limiting any rights you may have under applicable law.
